About Me

Served on the Miller from Jan. 1987 till May 1990 in "M" Division. The late 80's on the Miller: MTV and HBO were God. Loud music. Camaros, Chevelles and Monte Carlos. Playboy, Hustler and Chunky Asses. Reebok Hitops, frosted jeans, t-shirts,Gucci's and Polo. Bars, Dance clubs and the Electric Slide. New England chicks with really big hair.  White Snake, Bon Jovi, U2, Run DMC, and Hank Jr. Bahama Mamas, Long Island Ice Teas, Sex on the Beach, MAD DOG, and beer. Andrew Dice Clay and Eddie Murphy. Boston, Rosey Roads, Bermuda, Jamaica, Galveston, Fort Lauderdale during Spring Break.....And ya can't forget the Nicknames: Jumbo or Jimbo, Swa, Flan, JC, Ski, Chooch (Chucky Cheese Chooch from Chesha), Hinder Hender, "Sluggo" Gentry, Buffalo Head ( that big headed kid), Calvan Mycraney, Benny (wo, Benny! You can stretch it, but just don't bend it), "The Doo", DINGMAN!!, Chappy, Eddie Munster, and the Wilderbeast.......Fellas. Thanx for the memories.

I now reside in Ellerslie, MD. on the Mason-Dixon Line, with my wife of nine years, Anne, and my two teenaged step-children. I'm in the Power plant business. Still a hick: Chew snuff, drink beer, shootin' lots of deer.

Absolutely. Cable TV on the Mess Decks in port. (Newport) Movies at night on the Mess Decks when underway. Although, most of us snipes were usually 6 and 6. Didn't see many movies.

You had HBO and MTV on the Miller? We had 16mm films that we traded with other ships. We too were in Ft. Lauderdale during spring break in about '74. Good to have you on the site.
